This is a cute and crazy comedy. Bascially a movie challenging society's rules of what is acceptable and not. Actually it is a story about an ideal family situation, where everyone gets to do what they want, and the business world can't control it. This classic oscar winner was definately a movie before its time. A young James Stewart, together with Barrymore and the rest of the cast are just perfect in this production. You start to wonder, are they happy or are they mental? Either way this is a story that is not only different, but considering how old it is, also magical. There is also an undtone hinting about an ideal communist society that threatens the american business sense. It would actually not be a bad idea to make this today.
